Our Mission - Healthy Foster Families
Our mission is to develop and support healthy foster families in order to ensure better outcomes for the foster children under their care. We believe that family is the centre of the growing process and being part of a family is the most natural environment for raising and nurturing children.
A healthy foster family unit brings about healing and positive growth for children, regardless of their needs. Our proven processes have been developed to educate and support foster parents through the process of bringing foster children into their homes.
Our Services
Nairn Family Homes seeks to provide specialized foster placement for children between the ages of 0-18. We are able to serve children with a wide range of needs thanks to our experienced team and the wonderful families that enter our foster training program.
We support our foster families by providing ongoing extensive training that helps them fulfill much more than the child’s basic needs for care and nurturing. When our foster families are supported, the children thrive.
Our foster care and training services include:
-
Careful matching of children and families
-
Complete foster family training
-
Family supervisors that provide dedicated attention to each family
-
24/7 on-call support for foster families
-
Relief programs when necessary
Our History -50 years of foster care
Established in 1970, Nairn Family Homes was one of the first private foster care agencies in Ontario! With over 50 years of experience in foster care placement and support, Nairn Family Homes is no newcomer to the field of child welfare.
We have served hundreds of children and adolescents with various needs in the many years we have been in service.
Nairn Family Homes opened its doors in the 70’s under the design and leadership of Ed and Agnes Driediger. In 1987, with the retirement of Ed and Agnes Driediger from the ownership of the program, a different license was issued to new owners Mike Chalmers and Phillip A. Bruce. Mike Chalmers in turn, retired in July 1996 and Phillip and Alice Bruce assumed full ownership of the program.
